The poems in this fanzine were written by Zubair over several years in Agder prison, department Froland, where he was a student at Agder Art Academy (2021-2023) and participated in workshops in self-publishing together with designer and visual artist Marie Payan.

The poems were not written with publication in mind. They emerged as notes, sketches, poems and reflections on love, loss, family, hope, pain, and freedom. Zubair writes in Norwegian, a language he learned as an adult. 

Agder Art Academy was an art education and a collective, public artwork initiated by curators Kristine Jærn Pilgaard and Thora Dolven Balke, developed with artists Dag Erik Elgin, Hege Nyborg and Sverre Gullesen, and produced by KORO in collaboration with the Norwegian Prison Service. 

På Feil Sted (est. 2026) is part of Masahat’s ongoing interrogation of the limits and possibilities of art in public space. Through a series of zines, we initiate a conversation with young people about the state of the world and the function of art in processes of social and political change. 

This series of zines is co-published by Hverdag and Masahat.
